What is Kinderbijslag?

Kinderbijslag is a government child benefit paid by the SVB (Sociale Verzekeringsbank) for every child under 18. Additionally, there is Kindgebonden budget — a supplement for families with lower income, paid by the Belastingdienst/Toeslagen.

Who is eligible?

All families with children under 18 living in the Netherlands. Kinderbijslag is not income-dependent. Kindgebonden budget depends on family income and the number of children.

Benefit amount

For the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2026, SVB pays per child per quarter: €295.07 for ages 0–5, €358.30 for ages 6–11 and €421.53 for ages 12–17. Kindgebonden budget is calculated separately and depends on income, wealth and family composition.
